The UANVB Katana Molded is Nocturn Industries' ultralight articulating night vision binocular, engineered with a focus on simplicity, durability, and weight reduction.

Injection-molded from a carbon-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite, the housing rivals 6061-T6 aluminum in tensile strength.

Its articulating design allows each optical pod to rotate independently and automatically power off when stowed, enabling users to operate with one or both eyes.

The Katana-M is designed for intuitive operation with a tactile push-button power switch integrated into the battery cap. Tool-free friction-lock interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment with integrated IPD stops allows users to quickly achieve and maintain their preferred viewing position without additional tools.

Powered by a single onboard CR123A battery, the system provides approximately 20–25 hours of runtime. An integrated LEMO external power port enables the use of remote battery packs for significantly extended operating time. A low battery indicator inside the eyepiece keeps users informed during extended missions.

Built to exceed MIL-STD-810 standards, the Katana-M has been tested for exceptional durability, including resistance to repeated drops, water, dust, and harsh environmental conditions. The integrated dovetail mount offers secure helmet attachment while maintaining a low-profile stowed position.

Key Features:

  • Weight: ranging from 413,5g (lightest config with RPO NVD-Next Gen and 3D lightweight eyepiece housing installed) to 536g (standard lens).
  • Power: Takes 1x CR123A onboard (20 to 26+ hours of runtime) and includes an offboard 2-pin LEMO power port for external battery packs (60+ hours of runtime).
  • Operation: Integrated tactile push-button power control
  • Key Functions: Independent articulating pods with automatic pod shutoff, low battery indicator inside eyepiece, and tool-less/patented Friction Lock Inter-Pupillary Distance (IPD) adjustment.
  • Optics: Compatible with PVS-14 style lenses
  • Tubes: Compatible with 18MM MX-10160 (2-pad or 3-pad with modification) or certain MX-11769 image intensifier tubes (pigtail removed)
  • Mount: Built-in dovetail helmet interface
  • Durability: Dust-proof and water-proof to 1.5m (exceeds IP68). Exceeds MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-810H, and NATO 1.5m drop test standards (drop-tested beyond NATO and TOP specifications).
  • Warranty: Backed by Nocturn Industries' lifetime warranty (excluding image intensifier tubes and lens assemblies).

Katana-M Systems are assembled and set up in-house in Germany using matched Photonis 4G Green Phosphor Image Intensifer Tubes (Autogated), together with lenses your choice. The devices will be collimated on our mil-grade collimation and test station, followed by a vacuum leak test and argon purge to ensure water proofing.

Photos of available image intensifier tubes, specification sheets, and other tube or lens configurations are available upon request.
